STATEMENT

I have always loved books and in many I have found help to answering life’s perplexing questions. This has happened when I’ve read poetry, fiction and some biographical non-fiction. The answers to these mysteries never seem to come in a direct manner, but through metaphor, stories, quiet contemplation and a willingness to spend time mulling over the complexity of our nature. The plethora of self-help books seems to play on our desire for a quick fix. It is remedy that’s given to us over the course of a chapter or at most 150 pages. This piece is a satiric response to this need for simple resolution to life’s knotty questions.
